Sam Sherman

A little background - I have spent my life with an interest in photography and motion pictures. I am a producer and distributor of films and have used photography in many ways. I have used my Exaktas through the years for great results, including Exakta 66 (1954 version). You can take some or all of my story below and what I am writing here. Two weeks ago I took some great photos of my 25 year old daughter with - Exakta VXIIB and Macro Kilar 90MM f2.8 with Vivitar 283 and attached bounce light card. This is an ideal setup for portaits and the results were great. I just set the lens on f8 and used the flash on f8- Auto. I have gone beyond wanting all Exakta cameras and accessories, but have most of the true Dresden Exakta 35MM models and the '38 and '54 "66" models, plus a chrome VP that is really nice with added strobe sync and a "new" f2.8 Tessar which is coated. This works fine if I could get the 127 film. Like Ivor Matanle, whose books I enjoy, I like to actually take pictures with all of my camera collection. Beyond the Exaktas, some of my favorites are the Primarflex 6x6 reflex in all of its various models from 1935 to 1954. In addition, I collect and study Contax II and III in its models made from 1945 to 1955 (which are not supposed to exist). Mainly the pre wwII models are known but these were still made in East Germany after the war and apart from the Russian Kiev clones.
